Kindness
06:32
|

I think the boys at the wheel straightening up their ties as they deal in blood were dragged up without kindness. All the flunkies and aggressors with their guns by their side doing as they're told were dragged up without kindness. Could be a sinner or a saint, destitute or a prince, it don't cost much to show kindness. What are we doing here? Can’t we show some kindness.
You think there's folks coming here and landing on the shore, and stealing homes as your neighbour lays cold on a pavement. Where were you yesterday when they needed your voice and your hand, is that you just found your kindness. Could be a pauper or a King, or a millionaire, a dancer it don't cost much to show kindness. What are we doing here?
Can't you see it’s us against them, it’s love against blood in our hands. No they don't stand for you, they don't stand for me, it's just us, can’t we show some kindness.
Do you believe all the words that you read in the papers that keep you entertained and tell you where to point your anger. Sensationalised to help them sell their lies, well you know my friend there's always some hidden agenda. Could be a junkie or a queen, a financial thief, an inbetweener, it don't cost much to show kindness. What are we doing here?
Can't you see it’s us against them, it’s love against blood in our hands. No they don't stand for you, they don't stand for me, it's just us, and we’re on our own
We'll reap what we sow, the silence wont make it go away. What you gonna do when it knocks on your door and there's nowhere to hide from the truth.
Can't you see it’s us against them, it’s love against blood in our hands. No they don't stand for you, they don't stand me, it's just us, can’t we show some kindness

Skulduggery
04:04
|
|||
Blood it runs thick through these streets, and stains the dust below my feet, the smoke it hides the blue up above, no you feel no god around here, just the devil in man.
I pushed the dirt off from my chest, and pulled myself from a shallow grave, I saw my son laying dead in a ditch, no you feel no god around here, just the devil in man.
In a suit with blood under his nails, hiding behind a lie that he sells on a billion TV’s, hide your eyes or you'll catch the decease, no you feel no god around here, just the devil in man
I’ve witnessed thievery of my native lands, watched ancient ruins be razed to the ground, skulduggery is rife in these old crazy times, no you feel no god around here, just the devil in man....
In a suit with blood under his nails, hiding behind a lie that he sells on a billion TV’s, hide your eyes or you’ll catch the decease, no you feel no god around here, just the devil in man.

Roots
04:18
|
|||
Photographs of yesterday are fading on my mantelpiece, and my faith’s been running out the door.
These dice feel loaded, what day is this? I haven’t seen a morning since I can’t remember.
I won’t break down, I can’t be shaken down, there’s a flame hidden that you’ll never find.
I won’t break down, I can’t be shaken down, these roots can never be torn.
Man, it feels like a con, these seats are preserved for thieves, was the writing always on the wall.
The old guard, this damned house of cards, ancient ruins are there to remind.
I won’t break down, I can’t be shaken down, there’s a flame hidden that you’ll never find.
I won’t break down, I can’t be shaken down, these roots can never be torn.
Postcards from yesterday, yet the apathy remains, chasing my faith out the door.

Been working myself to the bone and I don’t know why, my footsteps are starting to sound like the clink of a chain.
Dreams of marquee lights and high-end shows, sold for bar room days with nothing to show.
Though your dreams fade under the weight, you never did plan it out that way, from the cradle to the grave, it’s easy to get lost in the race, when your dreams fade under the weight, when your dreams fade under the weight, old dreams fade under the weight.
Been doing the best that you can do, with three young ones and daddy’s been gone for a while, you never seem to find an excuse to paint on your smile, and your love of dancing’s been dead for some time.
Though your dreams fade under the weight, you never did plan it out that way, from the cradle to the grave, it’s easy to get lost in the race, when your dreams fade under the weight, when your dreams fade under the weight, old dreams fade under the weight.
It’s a long & rough road, when you’re carrying around a pointless load. There’s nothing back there you thought you used to know. Just a load with no use on the road, old dreams fade under the weight.

Shine A Light
03:50
|
|||
Sit down by me for a while, we’ll break down the walls by this fire, tell me what’s going on trial, we’ll chop it right up by this flame.
I know there’s shadows you can’t explain, there’s a ghost in every house I’ve been told, there’s no need to exorcise it alone, we’ll shine a light and call out its name.
One by one, two by two, one by one, we’ll shine a light and call out its name.
There’s no need to do any talking, just let the breeze shoot on by, let me tell you my favourite joke, ‘a horse walks into a bar....’
One by one, two by two, one by one, we’ll shine a light and call out its name.

It Never Lasts

Save me a seat at your table and I’ll bring my 6 string, I’ll show that chord that you couldn’t get your ring finger round, we’ll dissect the news & set this old blue rock to rights, & laugh about how we thought the good times would never end, though they never last, no it never lasts.
Let your candle burn any which way that you can. There ain’t no end of the line & the rain don’t ever last.
Set yourself aside like a wallflower looking out, I bet you 10 quid you could pinpoint all the shit that tears you down, I’ll bet you double quits the good times will swing on back around, like a dreich Scottish winter you know that shit never lasts, no it never lasts, no it never lasts.
Let your candle burn any which way that you can, There ain’t no end of the line & the rain don’t ever last.
Won’t you settle on down, take a load off & don’t you be unkind, cherry blossoms, and thorns on a rose, you know it never lasts, no it never lasts.
You know the wheels on the bus they keep going round n round, there ain’t nothing gonna stop it but don’t you let it run you outta town. Have love, will travel dive in go swimming when you get wet, ride it all day long coz you know that shit never lasts, no it never lasts, no it never lasts.

Set It On Fire
06:03
|
|||
I’ve never seen the streets so bare, sirens and pigeons are all I hear, and the news keeps picking on my fears, no one’s safe and no one cares, no one’s safe and no one cares.
It’s a brave new world that’s come undone, I feel like I could burn down this old house, though I’ve never seen the city sky so clear, still I wanna set it on fire.
Hold on, break the shame, I’ll never hold a bag in someone else’s name, don’t say another word, I won’t take your blame, I’ll never hold a bag in someone else’s name, still I wanna set it on fire.
There’s a man in the shadows that looks like Mr Burns, he’s got me as a number and nothing more, there ain’t no heart at the heart of this, just a big black hole with a kill list, Still I wanna set it on fire, I wanna take my rage and set it on fire.
Hold on, break the shame, I’ll never hold a bag in someone else’s name, don’t say another word, I won’t take your blame, I’ll never hold a bag in someone else’s name, still I wanna set it on fire.

Madman On The Loose
06:42
|
|||
Here’s another tale about a whisky lover, soaked in a bar staring down a glass, but don’t say ‘hola’, he’ll drag you down into his wicked past.
He’s been on the run for 4 days straight, he cleaned out the bank took every penny he’s made, he’s heading for the coast of the motherland where no one knows his name.
Fake moustache and big black shades, he straightened and trimmed the curls his mother gave, he’s looking a bit like Benicio del Toro in his younger days.
The barkeep never said a word, the young waitress was giving funny looks when she saw his face on the news with the headline, ‘madman on the loose.’
Handsome as geek god he can’t help himself, with his silver tongue he charmed that pretty girl then and there, it’s such bad decisions that got him here In the first place.
The bad decision, she got off at 6, they chased tequila and danced for a bit and he said, “one more round for the lover’s and that old man at the back, por favor”
When your sins come knocking down the door, and you’ve played your last domino, hold on to your wits or you’ll become like the madman on the run.
Making love and pushing 90 down the 57, dangerous and drunk it was a prosecutors dream, the poor little blond had no idea what was going down on the scene.
Some things you should never do while on the run, let the little man do the thinking get yourself all undone, the road’s hot enough when you’re on the chase under the Mexican sun.
An inquisitive girl so she was, shooting out all sorts of questions looking for a confession, when Jose’s head slipped and gave up the ghost of all his indiscretions.
You hear the one about the Mexican from El Cajon, he pushed his wife over the cliff and then he went on the run, they said he went crazy when he found her in the pantry with his mistress.
The papers will have you believe she was a saint, that woman was the evil, 24 hours a day all she’d do is complain and she couldn’t keep her hands off his Don Julio.
When your sins come knocking down the door, and you’ve played your last domino, hold on to your wits or you’ll become like the madman on the run.
Well there’s only one thing left for our boy to do, so he shot that motor-mouth just as you do, he dumped her in a ditch and then he rolled on down to Boca del Rio.
No rest, nor redemption for the wicked Jose but down on the coast he can dance the mojito waiting around for the judgment to come his way.
When your sins come knocking down the door, and you’ve played your last domino, hold on to your wits or you’ll become like the Madman on the Loose.

Django

Come down off your horse, there’s no need for you to keep going. You’ve killed all your ghosts now you come home, you’ve won the war. The cold sunsets you chase let them fall one last time and tomorrow you’ll feel all the warmth.
Many pimps, outlaws and enemies have died by your hand on this trail. They’ll live in your shadow, it’s a trade-off that had to be made. The Mexican standoff you face down at dawn is just you, and the devil within.
Now the time has come, come in out the rain and take off your guns. Sometimes the fire needs to rage before a new day is dawned.
The whispers in the wind it still calls out their names as you ride. You hold nothing but anger & hate, it just drives on your pain. How many shots can you take before your gun starts to lie?
Now the time has come, come in out the rain and take off your guns. Sometimes the fire needs to rage before a new day is dawned.
