The song is cantered around a dude working away, on the road, truckin', missing his woman on the run-up to Christmas.
I wrote this song in December 2017 after being inspired by an exceptional woman. It got me thinking about how absolutely single I was, and how that feeling kind of gets heightened during the festive period.
lyrics
V1 -
I'm hoping to be back in time for Christmas morn', been out on this rig for so long I could quit & just head back to your arms
V2 -
That boss of mine always keeps me from you around this time but I swear down honey I'll be back as quick as you can say, 'Santa's sleigh'
Ch-
I'll arrive in my Santa suit and baby you can play my Mrs Claus, see if I can get you to sing my favourite Christmas songs.
I got your gift baby and you know you got mine, & there ain't no way I'm missing Christmas with you this time.
V3 -
I hope you got the Christmas card I sent just the other day. I wrote you down a few lines so you know you’re on my mind.
V4 -
The snow is piling up here but lord knows we need the overtime, But I swear down honey I’ll be back as quick as you can say, 'Santa’s sleigh'.
Ch-
I'll arrive in my Santa suit and baby you can play my Mrs Claus, see if I can get you to sing my favourite Christmas song.
I got your gift baby and you know you got mine, & there ain't no way I'm missing Christmas with you this time.
M8 -
Go on forget the headlines, get in some strawberries and wines, and get on down with your lover this Christmas time.
