about
Kindness
A song inspired by the tragic events that took place in the late summer of 2015 when the world bore witness to the horrors, and dangers of those fleeing conflict.
The image of the young Syrian lad, Alan Kurdi laying lifeless on the shores of Turkey should have humbled us all, and left us all awash with empathy.
8 years on, and the meanness directed toward those seeking a brighter day away from the rubble of western, democratic hegemony... all that noise has never been harsher, or more unkind.
lyrics
I think the boys at the wheel straightening up their ties as they deal in blood were dragged up without kindness. All the flunkies and aggressors with their guns by their side doing as they're told were dragged up without kindness. Could be a sinner or a saint, destitute or a prince, it don't cost much to show kindness. What are we doing here? Can’t we show some kindness.
You think there's folks coming here and landing on the shore, and stealing homes as your neighbour lays cold on a pavement. Where were you yesterday when they needed your voice and your hand, is that you just found your kindness. Could be a pauper or a King, or a millionaire, a dancer it don't cost much to show kindness. What are we doing here?
Can't you see it’s us against them, it’s love against blood in our hands. No they don't stand for you, they don't stand for me, it's just us, can’t we show some kindness.
Do you believe all the words that you read in the papers that keep you entertained and tell you where to point your anger. Sensationalised to help them sell their lies, well you know my friend there's always some hidden agenda. Could be a junkie or a queen, a financial thief, an inbetweener, it don't cost much to show kindness. What are we doing here?
Can't you see it’s us against them, it’s love against blood in our hands. No they don't stand for you, they don't stand for me, it's just us, and we’re on our own
We'll reap what we sow, the silence wont make it go away. What you gonna do when it knocks on your door and there's nowhere to hide from the truth.
Can't you see it’s us against them, it’s love against blood in our hands. No they don't stand for you, they don't stand me, it's just us, can’t we show some kindness
