When I started writing 'New Year or Halloween', I knew I was looking for a duet. I started playing the guitar and out popped this toe-tapping, joyful country number about 2 lovers enjoying each other's company. It's very Johnny & June!!
Again, Charlie added her magic with her vocal and brought some nice quirky touches to the track. Like the rug, it ties the whole thing together!!
lyrics
V1 - (fem)
I’ve been pining all week drowning in my malt wine, when you arrived in that old Santa suit I nearly peed my pants, it’s that big kid in you, that make my heart jump & sing. It could be Halloween or New Year, as long as you’re by my wing.
V2 - (m)
It’s the one week of the year that takes me back, to them good ol’ white Christmases with a sleigh across my back, playing musical houses, not knowing if it’s new year or Halloween. Well I worked the last 2 so I ain’t missing this Christmas with you
Ch - (duo)
Oh, don’t you leave me lonesome one more Christmas Eve
go dancing & prancing underneath that ol’ mistletoe, not caring one snowflake if it’s New Year or Halloween
V3 - (m)
When I was sleighing across country, you never left my mind, it’s good to have them boots off and have my baby by my side, let’s stay up late, get drunk and sing them festive songs, I wasn’t much of a fan of Christmas but then you came along
V4 - (fem)
Now don’t you go blowing reindeer dust up my ass, bet you’ve said that to all the girls, boy I know your past but I don’t mind, or you’re mine now, you big old goofy elf. I had one Christmas wish, to have you here all to myself.
Ch, (duo)
oh, don’t you leave me lonesome one more Christmas Eve, lets got dancing & prancing underneath that ol’ mistletoe, not caring one snowflake if it’s New Year or Halloween
